Whenever aluminium cable is to be terminated on copper bus or copper contact, if aluminium lug is used then contact between terminal lug and barrel of copper terminal lug is of dissimilar metal and hence galvanic action takes place. In order to prevent dissimilar contact and to avoid galvanic action it is always advisable to use copper Aluminium Bi-Metal Lugs. Electrolytic Copper head / Palm is friction welded to electrolytic aluminium barrel.
